Associate Director, LIU Promise: Long Island University, CW Post

October 8, 2013

The LIU Promise is our commitment to students; we promise to take a hands on approach in helping students achieve goals. When a student applies to LIU, he/she will be assigned an LIU Promise Success Coach, who will be there for them every step of the way right through graduation. The success coach will be a student’s point of contact for everything at the University–from academic advisement to getting involved on campus to financial aid counseling to career development–helping you to chart and navigate an individual path as part of the LIU family. Just like our students, no two LIU Promise paths are the same. A coach will work with a student one-on-one to create a success plan tailored to your needs, goals and interests, helping students to choose courses; select a major; find scholarships, internships and study abroad opportunities; develop an e-portfolio; and launch your career. LIU Promise will keep students on track toward graduation and enable them to make a seamless transition from college student to successful professional.

As an LIU Promise Associate Director, your goal will be to know each of the students on your caseload inside and out in addition to managing and mentoring your staff of Success Coaches. You will serve as students’ one point of contact for the entire university, with attention to their curricular, co-curricular, financial, and career development. Just like our students, no two LIU Promise paths are the same; as a part of the LIU Promise you will help each student chart and navigate his/her individual path. We need energetic people to take on a range of traditional student and academic affairs functions to ensure the best experience for our students. LIU Promise Associate Directors help students identify and succeed in their courses/majors, become a part of the LIU family, find scholarships, internships and study abroad opportunities, develop success plans and e-portfolios, and prepare students to choose and launch successful careers. In addition, Associate Directors supervise and mentor teams of Success Coaches, assisting them by overseeing their interactions with students and helping Success Coaches establish and meet recruitment and retention goals.
