Current HALE MA Student at the National Association for Developmental Education Conference

Mary Held, current HALE MA student, recently presented “Succeeding with Students Three Levels out from College Math” at the annual National Association for Development Education conference which was held in Dallas, TX, March 5-8, 2014.  Mary also works in the Mathematics and Computer Science Department at Lansing Community College, specifically with Adult Basic Education.

Abstract:
Are some students just not college material? This presentation answers that question, covering the redesignof a program for the lowest level math students. It resulted in a success rate that went from 3.7% to 34.8%. Demonstration of NHLP usage, other design elements, and some longitudinal data and information onstudent characteristics are included.
