SAA MA Alum Receives President's New Employee Excellence Award

March 11, 2014

Jeff Grim (SAA MA, 2008) is the 2013 recipient of the Gretchen C. Voight New Employee Excellence Award at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.  Jeff is known for the innovation and commitment he brings to the Residential Commons initiative.  Jeff Grim began his work at SMU the summer of 2011 as an Assistant Director in the Residence Life and Student Housing division of Student Affairs.  In a short two years, he has made a tremendous positive impact on campus.  He recruited faculty to serve as Faculty in Residence and Faculty Affiliates, created a student Leadership Council to promote the Residential Commons, and assisted the interim Dean of RLSH with community requirements and initiatives.  Jeff’s colleagues have noted his ability to develop rapport and cultivate respect with them as well as the students that he serves.  His supervisor noted, “Jeff’s passion for excellence is infectious and our colleagues from across campus are excited for an opportunity to partner with him on a project… truth be told, sometimes they even join a committee just because they know Jeff is on it!”  As stated by a colleague, “The Residential Commons is the most significant single financial investment SMU has made since the decision to build the University.  Jeff’s leadership and drive are a significant part of the reason it will be so successful.”

Congratulations, Jeff!
