The Higher Education Leadership Program at Florida Atlantic University is expanding and seeks applicants for an assistant professor, tenure-track line to begin fall term 2016. Our program prepares scholars for leadership and faculty positions in community colleges, state colleges, universities, agencies, and proprietary colleges and universities.
Applicants must have an earned doctorate from an accredited institution with a concentration in Higher Education or a related discipline. The successful candidate will be expected to teach classes from the undergraduate, masters to doctoral level, collaborate with faculty on curriculum and programmatic endeavors, be a productive researcher, and actively seek external research support. Successful candidates will advise and mentor masters and doctoral students, and supervise and serve on dissertation committees. Preference will be given to candidates with successful experience in student affairs, graduate teaching, doctoral dissertation supervision, research and scholarly work related to higher education, grants and resource development, and administrative experience.
FAU is a multi-campus university within the State University System of Florida. It enrolls approximately 30,000 students on campuses in Boca Raton, Davie, North Palm Beach, and Harbor Branch. The successful candidate will be housed on the Boca Raton campus located three miles from the ocean. Each term, the Higher Education Leadership Program enrolls appropriately 60 Ph.D. students and 65 master’s students in degree seeking classes and another 125 undergraduate students in a leadership course offered in collaboration with the FAU Division of Student Affairs and part of a new, interdisciplinary undergraduate leadership studies minor.
