The National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students is excited to open the nomination process for this year’s annual awards.

Deadline for all awards: September 15, 2015.

Barbara K. Townsend Dissertation of the Year Award
In honor of the life and career of Barbara K. Townsend, the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students (NISTS) has established the annual Barbara K. Townsend Dissertation of the Year Award, and invites nominations for 2015. This is the the 7th annual awards process recognizing exemplary dissertation research related to transfer students.

The Institute encourages faculty to nominate exceptional dissertations, regardless of methods or academic discipline.

NISTS Research Grant
The National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students will award up to two $800 external grants for research associated with transfer students, transfer policy, and/or the transfer and articulation process. Individual or collaborative researchers, including graduate students, are invited to submit proposals.

Bonita C. Jacobs Transfer Champion Award
The Bonita C. Jacobs Transfer Champion Award is given in recognition of an individual or individuals who have demonstrated exceptional advocacy and leadership in the development and implementation of transfer-focused activities (e.g., programs, policies, research) which have made a significant contribution to the improvement of transfer student access, persistence, and success.

Rising Star Category for the Bonita C. Jacobs Transfer Champion Award
In recognition of individuals who are making significant contributions but are relatively new to the transfer field, we are introducing the Rising Star category.
