Addressing inequalities, mobility and dislocation: Insights from international and domestic research and practice- Conference/Call for Papers

March 30, 2017

Growing inequality is a pressing concern, both in the US and internationally.  It is an issue for most of us in our college, because of the work that we do is both affected by inequality, and has the potential to address it.

One upcoming occasion for deeper discussion is a conference our college is hosting June 12-13.  Lynn Paine has been leading the work on this event, and has lined up an impressive set of participants from the US and from other countries.  The event will offer many opportunities for dialog, with plenary sessions more a conversation among plenary speakers than a series of lectures.  Those attending will include practitioners and, we hope, some state-level policy makers.

I encourage you to make time for this event, and consider submitting a paper or panel proposal.  The deadline for proposals is coming up, April 1.

Please check out the link to the website http://education.msu.edu/international/Inequalities_Conference.asp for more information about the conference focus and themes, registration, and proposal submission.  I encourage you to spread the word about the conference with colleagues at other universities or organizations.  You can also contact Lynn if you have questions about the event.  Please also pass the word on to students.  There is a modest participation fee, with a discount for those who register by April 15.

Hope to see you there.
