The Educational Leadership – College Student Affairs program at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania announces a new study abroad program:

International Perspectives on Student Affairs – Ireland.

3 credit Graduate Elective

Course Description:

During the study abroad experience in Ireland (both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland), participants will develop an understanding of the structure and practice of college student affairs in this part of the world and gain insight into international issues. Participants will gain an understanding of the educational and cultural systems in Ireland through interactions with University administrators, local politicians, and current students.

 

Additionally, participants will gain exposure to different cultures, examine the effects of culture on a country’s system of higher education and student affairs, compare and contrast the issues facing higher education in Europe and the United States, explore the actual and potential effects of international exchanges of students, faculty, and administrators on higher education, and develop a network of professional colleagues outside of the United States.  This will be accomplished by visiting over 8 different higher education institutions in Limerick, Dublin, and Belfast and meeting with administrators, gaining historical knowledge and touring museums and historical sites throughout the region.

This course includes:

Pre-Departure Meetings, accessible in person or virtually via Zoom and the Academic Study Tour/Class May 15 to May 31, 2018 in Ireland.
