Call for Proposals: ACPA-Michigan’s 2018 Annual Conference

August 27, 2018

Institutions of higher education are home to individuals from diverse backgrounds. As professionals in education our role is to make sure that we are creating environments that are welcoming to our students, faculty and staff. Providing visible signs of inclusion are important indicators of equitable access and respectful provision of programs & services. As such, we invite you to submit program proposals for ACPA-Michigan’s 2018 Annual Conference, #ACPA18: Creating and Cultivating Change: Inclusive Ways to Transform Environment.

This conference hopes to provide a center for dialogue so that professionals in student affairs work may:

  • develop skills and networks
  • focus on the specific challenges faced with campus efforts
  • present strategies to meet these challenges
  • share research in an effort for both individuals and their institutions to make progress towards their goals

Potential topic ideas could include but are not limited to:

  • Creating brave spaces on campus
  • Managing hot moments in the classroom
  • Strategic alliances for building and strengthening equitable access
  • Educating for personal and social responsibility
  • Creating positive campus climates
  • Empowering students to be activists and agents of change

This year’s conference will be held on October 14 and 15 at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
If you should have any questions regarding proposal submission, please contact Jennifer Bondy at aa1676@wayne.edu and Megen Rehahn Drulia at ay6086@wayne.edu.
