Student Success and Experiential Learning Coordinator

This position will join a dynamic team of professionals dedicated to student development and experiential learning.  As a member of the team, this position will work with the College’s Excel Network by coordinating and supporting undergraduate students on co-curricular opportunities and experiential learning while generally supporting the initiatives of the Network.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and support co-curricular opportunities in the Excel Network for all College of Arts & Letters (CAL) students as a high impact practice critical to student development and success.  This may include the following:
    • Assist the Director of the Excel Network in the coordination and administration of study away programming, including logistics, budgeting, and communication with students, faculty, and on-site vendors
    • Work with the Undergraduate Affairs leadership team to develop procedures and a system to track the completion of a college level experiential education requirement
    • Develop guidelines and post-program evaluations for CAL study away programs
    • Develop and implement an “experiential education 101” advising guide
    • Support the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Education in expanding and recruiting students for undergraduate research projects as well develop and deliver programming for students related to undergraduate research
    • Assist with the development of a research, arts and entrepreneurship event for students including workshops for student participants and other undergraduate researchers
  • Assist the Director of Undergraduate Affairs on CAL student success initiatives such as the Success Training for Academic Recovery and other initiatives aimed at retaining students and increasing graduation rates
  • Collaborate with other units and Colleges on campus to increase student success and support experiential learning opportunities
  • Work with the coordinator of recruitment by representing CAL at recruiting/outreach events and activities
  • Participate in College and University events such as Commencement, Convocation, and other functions.
  • Other duties as assigned

This is an hourly position that will include approxiimately 15 hours per week at a wage of $15 per hour. Work hours will be within the range of Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a graduate program in student affairs, higher education, humanities, arts, or liberal arts.
  • A commitment to student development and experiential education is essential.
  • Excellent written, oral, and dynamic presentation communication skills are essential.
  • Energetic personality and strong work ethic are necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on long term planning and implementation are vital to the success of the applicant.
  • Technical skills in word-processing, database management, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, and html (webpage) composition are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population, faculty, and staff.
