Position Code and Title: D00360 – Student Research Assistant III
Working Title: Coordinator, Community Engaged Learning Scholar Program
Employment Period: September 10, 2018- June 10, 2019
Salary: Approx. $1000/month (9 months)
Special Notes: May require work in Detroit one day a week (Mostly Fridays), Driver’s License Req.
Reports to: Director, Center for Service-Learning and Civic Engagement
Supervision: 10 Undergraduate Student Scholars
Position Overview:
The coordinator of the Community Engaged Learning Scholar Program provides mentorship and support to a cohort of up to 10 (ten) community engaged undergraduate students who are participating in a community engaged internship program throughout the academic year. Coordination includes facilitating and leading reflective seminars to make meaning of the scholars’ experiences, serving as a professional mentor and cohort leader, tracking evaluation data, serving as a partner liaison, troubleshooting logistics and operational issues, and supporting overall program development.
Fall 2018- Spring 2019 Assignment:
The coordinator and cohort will be serve with community partners in Detroit and Lansing,
About the Program:
The Community Engaged Learning Scholar Program is an initiative founded in the Fall 2016 semester to support student participation in community development throughout the state of Michigan. The student scholars are offered a stipend to minimize the obstacles students oftentimes have to service learning and civic engagement.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred. 2 years of experience supervising students or leading student groups
