The Institute for Research on Teaching and Learning (IRTL) has an open position for an advanced Ph.D. graduate student in the College of Education interested in research administration beginning Fall 2019.
Job responsibilities include:
Assist in the development of services for doctoral students who seek funding for research, dissertations, and practica in the MSU College of Education (CED).
• Gather and announce information on external funding of interest to COE graduate students.
• Manage IRTL graduate student listserv and doctoral support website.
• Provide individualized consultation matching COE graduate students with external funding opportunities related to their research. Edit, review text, and provide budget consultation for graduate student proposals both internal to the university and external on local, state, and national levels.
• Coordinate IRTL-sponsored grant writing workshops, seminars, and symposia for graduate students and faculty.
• Facilitate basic training in grant writing and budget development for graduate students.
• Assist the Associate Dean for Research with College of Education research projects.
o Institutional Reporting
o Video recording and editing
? Knowledge of Camtasia, Movie Maker, etc.
o Event Coordination
• Assist faculty with the identification of potential funding opportunities
• Provide research administration assistance as needed to IRTL office staff
o Attend Essentials of Research Administration (ERA) Trainings
Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Knowledge of grant writing, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Contribute, and MailChimp preferred, as well as video production and editing software. Continued support beyond the 2019-2020 academic year is possible depending on student performance and IRTL budget priorities.
