OBJECTIVES
Participating in this Summer Course, the trainees will be able to upgrade their skills by mastering an innovative method: The use of works of fine arts, cinema and ancient drama in their teaching.
The participants will be provided with stimuli that will enable them to thoroughly understand and enjoy art and its use for educational purposes. Moreover, they will get practiced in a way to critically approach social, moral, and philosophical issues, such as discrimination, domination, race/ethnicity and gender.
Finally, those who teach will enrich their educational skills in order to encourage the development of critical and creative thinking of their learners through working with Art.
The basic themes of the Course will be as follows:
- The notion of Critical Thinking
- Transformative Learning
- Contemporary Critical Educational Theories
- The Use of Arts in Education
- Ancient Drama, now and then
- Innovative teaching approaches
METHODOLOGY & CULTURAL EVENTS
This 5-day long course will consist of lectures, experiential workshops, working groups and study visits. Participants will also have the opportunity to enjoy the sea and the sun during the Greek summer and participate in cultural events and excursions. ? study visit will be offered for free in one of the most famous archaeological sites in the world, the Knossos Palace. We will also visit for free the Heraklion Archaeological Museum. Both these sites will be fruitfully linked with the material of the course.
CERTIFICATION AWARDED
Participants will get a certificate of attendance.
