Previous experience in any aspect of internationalization is helpful but not required. Work Experience: Please describe the types of activities the students would be required to complete during their experience (i.e. website design, attending meetings: presentations, working with youth) – Play an active role in UCD Global – attend team meetings and assist with the operation of the Global Relations & Partnerships and Global Experience team; – Become familiar with the constituent elements of UCD Global – including student recruitment, student engagement and support; – Work with the UCD Global team to support the continued development and promotion of the orientation programme for internal students; – Assist the Senior Global Partnerships Officer with the logistical arrangements for the NICE project Summer School (one internship); – Assist the Global Experience Manager with the logistical arrangements for the UCD Global Lounge and the orientation programme for incoming international students (one internship); and – Contribute to the UCD Global Social Media team’s efforts to promote UCD Global initiatives, supports and services to UCD students. |
Benefits/Learning Objectives of the Internship Site: What can student gain through this experience? The intern will gain experience of working in a large international unit of a public university in the Republic of Ireland. They will also further develop people and networking skills. Additionally, they will have an opportunity to learn about global partnerships and networks. |
Lodging Type: Please describe the type of accommodations the student could expect, including proximity to work site. UCD on-campus accommodation will be provided and paid for by UCD Global from the 22nd June until the 2nd August 2019. UCD Global will not be responsible for any additional costs associated with or subsequent charges arising from damages caused during the interns stay in on-campus accommodation. |
Other Benefits: Describe other benefits (i.e. meals, travel to meetings/conferences) that the student may receive as part of their internship. If the intern(s) would like to visit other Irish third level institutions during their internship, these day visits can be arranged as requested. Working Hours: The intern(s) will complete approximately 200 hours within this period. Normal working hours are 34 hours per week, to be agreed with supervisor. These working hours can be negotiated with the intern to comply with any requirements of the intern’s home institution. Holidays: The Intern(s)s will be entitled to 3 days holidays during this period, not including public holidays – dates to be agreed with supervisor. |
