This seminar-based course will be the first course in structural equation modeling (SEM), entirely application-oriented, and including substantial hands-on activities by its attendees. We will be concerned with applied aspects of several widely used classes of SEM models in educational research, such as regression analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, mediation and moderation modeling, as well as construction, development, and revision of educational tests. All pertinent modeling will be conducted with Mplus and using the free demo version of the software. No prior knowledge of SEM or Mplus is required, and no purchase of any software will be necessary during the course.
