Announcement of College of Edcuation
Global Curriculum Fellowship

Graduate Proposals for 2021
The Office of International Studies in Education is pleased to announce requests for applications for the next cohort in the Global Curriculum Fellowship program for College faculty and doctoral students. The goal of the program is to enhance curriculum in the College of Education in ways that support global competence of both faculty and students. These fellowships are to help bring global dimensions into core courses across the college, both undergraduate and graduate. Thus, we anticipate that in most cases the fellowship will be used to address existing courses rather than develop entirely new ones.

Eligibility

Doctoral students who are in good academic standing in any College of Education doctoral program and can demonstrate satisfactory progress toward their degree are eligible to apply. Students must be enrolled through fall semester 2021 to be eligible for this fellowship.

Requirements of the fellowship

Requirements include participating in a community of practice seminar series and collaborating with a faculty fellow on a curriculum project identified by the faculty member. The community of practice will include all faculty and graduate Global Curriculum Fellows. Fellows are expected to attend the opening seminar Feb. 9 and 3-4 additional seminars over the course of the calendar year. Graduate students selected for this fellowship will be assigned to work with a faculty member who has also been selected for the fellowship. Graduate student-faculty pairs (or, depending on the pool, trios) are expected to work together throughout the fellowship year to to “internationalize” or bring a global perspective into the teaching of a particular course identified by the faculty fellow. Fellows will present their work at a final showcase in late fall 2021.

Fellowship Amount

Award amount: $3000 ($1500 per semester, for two semesters). The first part of the award will be in the spring 2021 semester and the second part in late summer/fall 2021. (Note that awarding of the second portion of the funding is dependent on completion of satisfactory work done during the first period.)
