Honors College Admissions Associate

½ time Graduate Assistantship or hourly graduate position

Fall 2020 – Spring 2021

The Honors College (HC) is seeking a dynamic graduate student to support the admissions functions of the College. Examples of duties include, but are not limited to, the following projects:

  1. Meet and counsel prospective students and their families about the Honors College; track prospective student visits
  2. Assist with program planning for Honors Explorations, Green and White Days, parts of the Alumni Distinguished Scholarship program and other Office of Admissions outreach programs such as African American and Latinx Family Day events.
  3. Coordinate recruitment for Academic Scholars Program (Honors College pathway program for high achieving first generation and pell eligible students).
  4. Make presentations virtually and when/if possible and allowed at information sessions and college fairs on and off campus and in and out of state;
  5. Schedule, coordinate, and participate in review of student records for Honors College eligibility in collaboration with other HC staff;
  6. Coordinate Mowbray Scholarship interviews and selection process
  7. Assist with communications including targeted emails, social media, and webinars to enhance recruitment; respond to prospective student emails.

Qualified individuals should enjoy working with high school students and parents, be very organized and task-oriented, possess strong writing skills, and be comfortable with independent work.

Graduate Assistants are automatically enrolled in the university’s GA health insurance plan; the premium is paid by the University.  This appointment has the potential to be renewed yearly contingent upon a satisfactory annual performance review and available funding.  Graduate Assistants are expected to work an average of 20 hours per week during the length of the academic year.  Graduate hourly employees who already have assistantships may work in this position for a maximum of 9 hours per week. Position may also be completed as a paid graduate practicum.
