They will provide an overview of the content of the second edition of their popular book College Students in the US, present highlights of the latest information about college students, and offer insight on how higher education institutions can and should promote student success defined as learning, development, and wellbeing. There will be time for discussion with webinar participants.

College Students in the United States, Second Edition was published in 2021 by Stylus.

Kristen A. Renn is Professor of Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education at Michigan State University where she also serves as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies for Student Success Research. Her contributions to scholarly and professional communities of practice in student affairs and higher education include leadership in the American College Personnel Association (ACPA), the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE), and the American Education Research Association (AERA).

Robert D. Reason is Professor of Student Affairs and Higher Education at Iowa State University. From 2003 to 2011, he was on the faculty in the College of Education at Penn State University, where he also held an appointment as Senior Research Associate in Penn State’s Center for the Study of Higher Education. His research has been published in The Journal of College Student Development, Research in Higher Education, and The Review of Higher Education. He currently serves as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Academic Affairs in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University.
