Fall 2021 through Spring 2022

Summary

The Office of Academic and Student Affairs (OASA) in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) seeks a qualified graduate student for a graduate assistantship with an anticipated start date of September 25, 2021.

Position Description

The Office of Academic and Student Affairs has an immediate need for support of an 1/2-time Graduate Assistant to assist with details related to the design, planning and implementation of multiple college-wide activities involving, but not limited to: undergraduate programming, College Curriculum Committee, Small Animals Day, and Pre-College initiatives/programs. Tentatively the position will start at the beginning of the Fall semester (September 25, 2021) and run through Spring semester (May 15, 2022).

GA Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, budget and implement activities and programs with guidance from OASA staff.
  • Assume additional duties as directed and in cooperation with services provided in OASA.
  • Work directly with ANR departments disseminating pertinent information related to upcoming or planned events.
  • Data collection regarding program information.
  • Attend all OASA team meetings.
  • Some travel (statewide and/or neighboring states) required.
  • Other academic support duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications and Requirements: Ideal applicants will have:
  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • Master’s or PhD-level experience or professional experience preferred.
  • Coursework and experience with Higher Adult and Lifelong Education or Student Affairs.
  • Event planning, program evaluation and outcomes-based assessment experience.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with others, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience working autonomously.
  • Ability to build student rapport.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule on occasion, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Experience with computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Doodle.
  • Comfortable working with undergraduate students, faculty, staff, administrators, and industry collaborators in a higher education setting.
  • Enrollment in a graduate program at Michigan State University prior to start.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and ability to drive university vehicle.
