Graduate Assistantship Available: Professional Development & Outreach, College of Education Office of Research Administration

The College of Education Office of Research Administration has an open position for an advanced Ph.D. graduate student in the College of Education interested in research administration beginning Fall 2021. This opportunity is for a ½ time assistantship for a doctoral student. They will work closely with the staff within the College of Education’s Office of Research Administration (ORA) and the Associate Dean of Research. This office works to support faculty and doctoral students within the college through the grant funding process. The person in this assistantship with focus on assisting the doctoral students in CED find, write, and apply for funding, in addition to providing other supports such as workshops, videos, or newsletters when needed.

Job responsibilities include

  • Meet individually with CED graduate students to assist in their individual funding needs such as assisting in searches, editing, reviewing text, and provide budget consultations, or aiding in proposal submission for grants both internal to the university and external on local, state, and national levels.
  • Gather and announce information on external funding of interest to COE graduate students through various forms such as email, social media, or newsletters.
  • Manage the ORA graduate student listserv and doctoral support website.
  • Coordinate and/or facilitate ORA-sponsored grant writing workshops, seminars, and symposia for graduate students and faculty.
  • Facilitate basic training in grant writing and budget development for graduate students.
  • Assist the Associate Dean for Research with College of Education research projects.
  • Assist in preparing Institutional Reports.
  • Assist faculty with the identification of potential funding opportunities.
  • Provide research administration assistance as needed to ORA office staff.
  • Attend Essentials of Research Administration (ERA) Trainings.

Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Knowledge of grant writing, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Contribute, and Qualtrics preferred, as well as video production and editing software. Continued support beyond the 2021-2022 academic year is possible depending on student performance and ORA budget priorities.
