Essential Functions

International student recruitment and support responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the college’s Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) for the U.S. Student and Exchange Visitor (SEVIS) Program and managing all other regulatory matters through U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), SUNY, etc.
  • Overseeing the international student intake process from inquiry to application to orientation to enrollment and beyond.
  • Exploring, initiating, and managing JCC’s participation in federally-funded and other supported programs that bring cohorts of international students to the U.S.
  • Exploring, initiating, and managing partnerships with international institutions of higher education and secondary schools where appropriate.
  • Developing and coordinating cooperative international recruitment efforts with regional upper-division colleges and universities and secondary schools as well as SUNY initiatives.
  • Supporting athletic coaches in outreach to prospective international students.
  • Overseeing relevant promotional initiatives, messages, platforms, events, and materials.
  • Developing and managing relationships with agents/representatives to support international enrollment goals.
  • Ensuring collaboration and facilitating communication among internal partners (admissions, business, health services, residence life, advising offices, etc.) to enable efficient, student-focused systems for admissions, enrollment, and support.
  • Developing and maintaining appropriate community collaborations to support international students.
  • Developing and managing short-term, campus-based programs for international students (ex. English immersion).
  • Staying abreast of and advising the college on emerging trends and best practices in international student recruitment and support services
  • Advocating for and assisting with the development of financial resources to support international students.
  • Introducing and facilitating engagement of international students with full range of student support services.

Study abroad responsibilities include:

  • Developing and managing systems related to study abroad programs (long-term, short-term, and internships) including course scheduling, emergency preparedness, etc.
  • Developing and recommending policies/procedures related to study abroad
  • Collaborating with faculty and others in the development of new opportunities for study abroad.
  • Preparing students, faculty members, and parents for study abroad experiences.
  • Managing the flow of communications among students, parents, academic advisors, international partners, and others as appropriate.
  • Serving as the primary liaison for individual students and student groups traveling abroad and managing emergency issues related to student travel
  • Leveraging study abroad as a recruitment strength for domestic students including participation in college open houses and related initiatives.

Other responsibilities:

  • Serving as a member of college committees as appropriate.
  • Attending conferences and traveling on behalf of the program.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree in global studies, communications, or related area; excellent administrative, communication, interpersonal, technology, and problem-solving skills; commitment to providing excellent customer service, attention to detail, experience working with students of diverse cultures, supervisory experience, ability to function with minimal supervision, working knowledge of international travel processes, valid U.S. passport and ability to travel abroad, and valid driver’s license.

Preferred: Master’s degree, experience in higher education, experience studying/working abroad, and fluency in a second language.

Additional Information:

Salary: $41,510 – $46,703, commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefits package.
