The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at University of Washington Bothell is hiring a Director of DEI. This position will oversee the Student Diversity Center and serve as a strategic leader on student equity issues to the campus. The starting salary is $90,000 – $95,000 and since this is a full-time, professional staff position, it is eligible for full retirement and healthcare benefits.

Under the portfolio of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) and under the supervision of the Assistant Vice Chancellor (AVC) for DEI, the Director will provide vision and leadership for the Diversity Center. The Director has responsibility for addressing four main goals of the UW Bothell Diversity Center.
- Develop and maintain a strong network of campus partners including faculty and staff to co-design
and empower partners to implement pathways for minoritized students that fully engage all aspects of
their educational experience and achieve their educational goals; - Develop a service delivery model for the department that meets the programmatic and resource
needs of the campus - Work with the AVC of DEI to develop a sequence of learning and professional development that can
be offered to faculty and staff about serving diverse students in equitable ways - Alongside the AVC of DEI function as a strategic partner to advance ODEI priorities and meet campuswide DEI goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
DEPARTMENTAL MANAGEMENT
• Manage and directly support the overall operations of and planning for the Diversity Center.
• Function as a strategic partner with faculty and staff to advance and advocate for strengths-based retention strategies for students from marginalized backgrounds.
• Develop short-term and long-term strategic goals for the Student Diversity Center.
SUPERVISE, RECRUIT, TRAIN, AND EVALUATE PROFESSIONAL AND STUDENT STAFF
• Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training and evaluation of professional staff.
• Directly supervise the staff of the Center including Program Manager(s).
• Create and support professional development opportunities for staff and students working in the Center.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
• Integrate and embed the Student Diversity Center to larger Office of DEI priorities and goals
• Responsible for maintaining internal controls and ensuring compliance, with university policies, procedures, and local, state and federal regulations
• Work with AVC of DEI to co-design an evaluation and assessment process for DEI programs and work with faculty and staff to comply with this process
• Oversight of budgetary management and forecasting for development of the DC, which includes operational and programming budgets to ensure activities are carried out in a fiscally responsible manner
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
• Serve and participate on University committees as assigned or designated.
• Other duties as assigned by their supervisor, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a higher education setting and/or experience working with student populations in an administrative setting. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Substantive experience leading diversity and inclusion initiatives and programming.
• Supervisory experience of professional and student paraprofessional staff required.
• Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and social justice for minoritized groups.
• Demonstrated excellent record of leadership, managerial, supervisory, and administrative skills.
• Demonstrated experience working with minoritized communities with a focus in diversity, equity and social justice.
• Well-developed skills in listening to and responding to people from diverse backgrounds across the institutional spectrum that includes students, faculty, staff, and community partners.
DESIRED:
• Master’s Degree in Education, Social Work, or other relevant field
