Michigan State University is hiring a UAB Assistant Manager! This position serves on the advising team for the University Activities Board within the MSU Union. They work collaboratively with students to carry out UAB’s mission to host inclusive events appealing to our diverse student population that are for students, by students. UAB aims to enhance the Spartan experience at Michigan State University. The person in this position will focus on advising, supporting event planning and implementation, and student training. The Assistant Manager is additionally responsible for assisting with and /or leading the management of UAB budget tracking, marketing efforts, hiring and evaluating student staff, and other initiatives determined along the way to meet the needs of the students. Some night and weekend time is expected of the person in this position to serve as the on-site advisor at UAB events. The Assistant Manager will report to the UAB Manager and be a part of the MSU Union Leadership Team. They will directly oversee a Graduate Assistant and UAB student team members.
UAB Assistant Manager Job Duty Percentages:
- 45% Advising students on ideation, planning and implementation, and assessment of events and projects
- 15% Works with UAB Manager and team to implement various administrative tasks such as budgeting, contract and policy management, marketing efforts and presentations
- 10% Prepare and implement training for GA’s and student staff or other campus partners
- 10% Serve as on-site staff member at events to assist student coordinators with execution of events and overall event safety and security
- 10% Coordinate, implement and maintain fundraising efforts for multiple modes of vendor and external relations
- 10% Assist with special projects and programs as needed
