Job Title: Graduate Student Research Assistant
Pay Rate: $20/hour
Overview
James Madison College is seeking a graduate student to work alongside Dr. Linda Sayed as a Research Assistant. The successful candidate will be working on a pilot study examining the psychological impact of COVID-19 on aging Arab Americans in Metro Detroit. The project will require community engagement with local organizations and religious institutions with the leading PI. Hours will range from approximately 10-20 hours per week, with more hours during the Spring semester. This position is expected to go through May 2022, possibly June 2022.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a graduate student
- Must be in good academic standing
- Previous experience in qualitative research (interviewing, focus group studies)
- Research focused on dementia, aging and marginalized communities
- Previous experience in community outreach and engagement
- Experience in promotion and recruitment of participants
- Experience assisting in the transcription of interviews
- Arabic language skills are desired
- Responsible and dependable
- Strong organizational skills
