Position: The Department of Advanced Studies, Leadership and Policy in the School of Education and Urban Studies at Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland, is seeking an outstanding candidate to fill a faculty position in the field of Higher Education.  The position is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor and will begin in January 2012.

Qualifications:  The PhD or EdD in Higher Education.  Candidates should have graduate level teaching experience, be competent in guiding doctoral student research and dissertations, and have a track record of scholarly publications and successful grant writing.  The ability to teach quantitative research methods and statistics would be an asset.  In addition the candidate should possess a strong commitment to working with an ethnically and culturally diverse student population and be able to contribute to the mission of the School of Education and Urban Studies and the University.

The University: Morgan State University is a historically black institution with the distinct designation as Maryland’s public urban university. It is committed at the undergraduate level to the liberal arts, sciences, business, architecture, education and engineering.  Undergraduates may pursue studies in 39 areas of concentration as well as in pre-professional fields of pharmacy, dentistry, medicine, medical technology and law.  At the graduate level, the University offers 23 master’s degree programs, including programs in the arts and sciences, business, education, built-environment studies (i.e., architecture, landscape architecture, city and regional planning), engineering public health, social work and transportation.  It also offers doctoral programs in bioenvironmental science, business administration, educational leadership, engineering, English, higher education, history, mathematics education, public health, science education and social work.

The Department: The Department of Advanced Studies, Leadership and Policy produces the largest number of doctoral graduates of any department in the university. It is a vibrant community of scholars drawn from five specialist areas: Higher Education Administration, Mathematics Education, Science Education, Community College Leadership, and Urban Education Leadership. The department includes 10 full-time and several part-time and adjunct faculty.
